Emily's Brother
Emily's Brother, Andy, left Saturday for Iraq. He called me today and they are in Kuwait. They will be there for a few weeks before leaving for Iraq. They will be going to Baghdad. We ask that you keep him and his fellow soldiers in your prayers.Thank you.

My thoughts and prayers are with him and all the others over there fighting. I can't begin to imagine the emotions you must be feeling. I know how proud you and Emily are of him and I'm sure he will have a guardian angel watching him every second. I wish him and his unit a very safe return soon.
Yes, I met him at the wedding. I've also been to Kuwait and Iraq during the first Gulf War. It really is a life changing event. No words can describe how it changes you. No words. I wish him well (tell him for me please.)
Marla and Emily, you are in my prayers, I cannot imagine how hard this must be...please let us know if there is anything we can do. We can send him a Dance Family Care package every now and then. We can send him letters, goodies and pictures from home! I want you to know that I think you are as brave as he is,I think I may have locked him in a closet and not let him out until it was all over!
Marla and Emily, LOOK You guys will have one heck of a support group here!! We love you guys! If you will post his standings where to send packages, maybe we can get goodie boxes together each month while he is gone and send something from all of us! I know my cousin loves getting our letters and packages, he says it is the only thing that keeps him sane! We will try to help keep you guys sane while he is gone. God will keep him safe and we will put him on the prayer list at school and church. I am sending my sister a request to add him to her prayer group as well. If you need anything or cant sleep, I seem to be sleepless myself just give me a call. The Martins
Thanks, everyone. Doug got to talk to him this morning on the computer, so at least we know that right now we can communicate with him via e-mail. A friend of mine, who was also in the first Gulf War, said that things to eat and read are always good to get. I know that some of the guys were saying Saturday that they are going to miss McDonald's. So guess what a lot of them were eating? LOL
We appreciate all of your kind thoughts and prayers.
We can't write or send anything until after Christmas, because they will not be where they can get things until then. A care package would be great.

Emily, I know what you mean, when Jessica's Dad (Brian) went to the first Gulf War, he was my best friend and I thought I would just cry myself to death. I was 2 months pregnant with Jessica at the time and away from home all by myself (I did not know a sole) and stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY during the war. I am glad we can send care packages to him after Christmas, let me have his APO addres and some of his favorite goodies that he can have and I will be excited to send him stuff, I have done this before. I am glad to see that the Army can get stuff to the soldiers faster than during the first Gulf War. The Army stored packages at the beginning of the war for 2 months at Ft. Campbell before they would fly them out to the units. That was a shame for the soldiers in my unit. Marla, I hope his unit has a family support group and if you don't know if there is one let me know and I can find out about it for you. I know what it is like to be left out when you have a loved one over there. If I can be of any help at all let me know. I will pray for his safe return to your family. Also let him know when you talk with him again that there are many people, especially us old veterans over here thinking about them often.
